Welcome to the Hastings and St Leonards directory of physical activity and sport opportunities. This site has a comprehensive database of many activities available in the Hastings and St Leonards area for children (age 9+) and adults, as well as further information on local events and training courses available in sport and exercise.

An active lifestyle is beneficial for promoting good health and is also a great opportunity for socialising. But activity can be as social or as personal as you choose. Current recommendations suggest that:

  • Adults should be participating in a minimum of 30 minutes a day of moderate intensity physical activity.
  • Children should be participating in a minimum of 1 hour per day of moderate intensity physical activity.

This can be achieved in small bouts throughout the day, such as 3 sessions of 10 minutes for adults, making it easier to fit into your everyday life. Any activity that makes you breathe slightly deeper and harder, and feel slightly warmer is 'moderate intensity physical activity'. This could be:

  • Digging and gardening work
  • Walking to work or school
  • Stair climbing
  • Playing badminton
  • Kicking the ball around in the street

It can be any physical activity you like!
